Hunt returned as Tennis President
At the Annual General Meeting held on Friday night, Warren Hunt was
chosen again to lead the Tennis Club for another 12 months when he was
re-elected as the Clubs President.
The meeting followed the Clubs last of its Friday nights
programmed activities for the year which saw Dan Jamieson win the juniors
section and some top matches both in singles and doubles played in the other
section. Warren despite having spent a good part of the year with his family at
Westmead hospital, performed his duties again so well and praised and
thanked the committee and volunteers for keeping the club going to enjoy
another successful year of tennis activities.
Juniors
After two weeks of cancelling the Thursday orange ball three
quarter court competition due to the hot weather we finally held the weekly
tourney with 6 players braving and enjoying the drizzle conditions and narrowly
completed the hour before the rain hit. Well done to Jack Booth winner and
Tilly Weeks runner up for this one with Max Booth the big improver. Play will
continue this Thursday with the start time 6.30 this week to allow the extra
bit of shade for the courts and play to finish at 7.30pm. All members are
welcome to play with the weekly tourney designed to cater for those players who
are not quite ready for normal court /green balls. If players can at
least serve in, one out of three attempts from the three quarter line they
should give it a go. It is noticeable the improvement in the players.
There has been a great response to the recent email issued to
those registered on the tennis mailing list, for Stuart Callaghan’s
January coaching with all spots for the private coaching now full.
Tony Callaghan has the booking/timetable schedule for the 8th to

Successful Tennis Weekend
The Annual Wooloondool/Auscott Hay Open and Junior Tennis
tournament attracted exactly 100 players on the weekend and expertly programmed
by Hays international experienced tournament director Steve Longworth to have
the last match and presentation completed by 4pm on the Sunday.
The weekend of tennis activities commenced on Thursday when the
newly appointed Tennis NSW South West Participation Officer Brendon Lee
organised with Lani Houston to conduct an all day Junior tennis clinic which
amazingly received 70 participants. Brendon Lee brought with him 5 of his
pupils from his previous coaching school business in Casino in northern NSW and
Southern Queensland and together with 5 Hay coaches utilised all the synthetic
courts to conduct a very satisfied and popular tennis day. Thank you to the
three Hay Schools giving this last minute publicity.

7/6 against former Riverina champion Danny Dossetor who has returned to his
hometown of Griffith now conducting a tennis coaching business.
The Womens final was won by the brilliant Jordan Gregson from

partnered a Queenslander to go down in the A mixed final. The C Mens doubles
finalists were Danny and Greg Stewart losing 8/3 after the first 4 games were
deuces. Immy Molloy came second to Hannah Potts of Parkes in the 16s girls.
Brad Callaghan took out the 14s singles 6/5 in the final against Lachlan Kelly
of Mildura with Pacey Marks missing a semi spot on averages. Jensen Hargreaves
continues his brilliant form by winning the 12s singles in a big field. Boys
doubles success went to Jensen and Kenny Hargreaves in the 14s doubles and to
Danny Stewart and Brad Callaghan in the 12s. Chloe Mulcahy formerly of
Carrathool was runner up in the 10s girls. Indyanna Wilson played very
